Christmas in July!

YUP! I said Mop & Glow Glitter Balls...these are the coolest! So easy to make just a little glitter (I used martha stewart), Mop & Glow, vinyl, your cricut cutter and a piece of ribbon turns an ordinary glass ball into a beautiful, personalized, sparkle ornament on your tree.

These make great gifts too, I plan to make lots more!!

Decoupaged Picture Frame Revamp

I decided to give these decoupage picture frames a revamp. I  bought these frames on sale a while back because I liked the colors in them and knew I could find someplace in my house for them. The center had some cheesy saying that I wasn't too excited about...

...but I had some pictures I took that I really liked from our vacation in Italy at a winery in Siena.

So, I cut the pictures to fit the center and simply decoupaged them

right over those cheesy sayings,

and look how cute they turned out!
Now, I have four really cool and personalized framed photos from our dream vacation for my wall.

I think these will look great with the Tuscan decor we have going through out the house.
Now I am going to see what else I can decoupage!

The Buttercup Bag

I made my first hand bag today...here is where you can find the (Free!) Buttercup Bag Sewing Pattern.

It was so easy to make, I was really surprised how quickly it came together.

The lighting was so much better outside, but I really need to find some place with a neutral backdrop.
I used a magnetic closure and added a cell phone pocket on the inside. This is a cute but small bag, I think the pattern can be adjusted easily into a larger bag, and want to try making it a larger Hobo style Bag.

See it's pretty small, but you can put you essentials in it. Next time I would use a stiffer fabric and/or a fabric stiffener in between the layers. My niece loved it and already wants another one (:

Ruffle Toddler Shorts

I decided to use the same idea and tutorial from my Simple Toddler Shorts
to make these Ruffle Toddler Shorts. I used up cycled fabric from
a pair of cargo pants and scrap fabric used for the ruffles, some buy Muslim
I use up cycled fabric to make a practice pair or to get my sewing skills where
I think they should be before giving a project as a gift.

It works great and
heck I bet if you look around your house too you will find lots of things to up cycle.
Up cycling not only works with fabric, there are lots of things in your house
with a little creativity that can be up-cycled into something beautiful or fun. Give it a try
you not only re purpose something you are not using anymore but you are recycling
as well.

Now I just hope they fit! (8

Sew! Sew! Sew!

Sew, I bet you thought I forgot about my blog...not a chance! I love my blog
as much as I love sewing and crafting and sometimes it's really hard to keep
up with it...so a shout out to all of you who have amazing blogs...because I
know you work hard for it! I thought I would share some vacation photo's today...
just of the amazing view we had from our Beach House rental in Malibu, CA.
We had three decks where you would find us most of the time...

The locals call it the BU

We and the neighbors had a private little beach...at
low tide it was even better.

I love using my DSLR when the charger decides
to charge the batteries for me (8 ...I even took an
action shot here cool!...ps. woot woot
my new charger came in the mail today!

They say this coastline area is the best in the area...this is part
of what they call the "Queens Necklace"...I wasn't able to
get a full picture of it...but we are going back for another
week and now that I have a new charger...I will be on
a mission and hopefully bring something worthy of posting
as I am merely a beginner behind my lens. :)

woo-hoo! Look at the action shot! (8
The house was right on the water at high tide see!

It was a little chilly there but overall great
weather and while I was out there I spotted
something...

S-H-A-R-K!!

Oh silly me it's just a pod of dolphins playing
in the surf, right outside the house!
G! Quick it's A-POD-OF-DOLPHINS RIGHT
OUTSIDE THE HOUSE!
GET THE CAMERA!
WAIT! The charger is not working!
GRAB YOUR CELL PHONE! Thank you god for cell phones.
They actually were much closer than they appear...

A-Line Upcycle

My first dress pattern...

...I bought my first pattern, it's a book called "Absolute A-Line" it's one pattern and
supposedly you can make 26 different dresses, if you add a ruffle here, a button there, a tie here, or an applique there I guess you could probably make more than 26 different
dresses depending on how creative you are. I just wanted a basic A-Line
dress pattern that had both Kinzy and Katelynn's sizes that had a few different
suggestions for decorating it. I guess you could say I got what I wanted,
but I am sure there are better books out there so look around before
running out and buying this one.

The pattern and instructions were easy to use but it didn't seem $20. worth to me, I opened the book and thought every dress in there was ugly except for maybe two. Anyways, like I said the pattern was easy to use and it came with multiple sizes which is what I wanted, so overall I am pretty happy with it.

This dress I decided to do two projects in one. I made a Up cycled dress from a man's shirt and a practice basic A-Line dress to see how well my skills are. I don't think it turned out that bad, I would probably fiddle with the inside bottom of the arm holes to keep them put better, but otherwise I am ready to buy my cute fabric and make another one.

This is a light fabric and doesn't hold it's shape very well so next time I will try a little heavier fabric, but I think it will make good summer dress for playing in.

ENJOY!
